Instructions for Registering in NC

If you think you might be registered in North Carolina already, you can check your registration status on the Voter Search page on the state Board of Elections website. If any of the information is outdated or incorrect, you can use the forms below to update your information. The same forms can be used for voters registering in NC for the first time. 

If you have a North Carolina Driver’s license (or any state-issued ID), you can register or update your registration online on the North Carolina DMV webpage.

If you do not have a NC Driver’s License but would like to register/update your registration in the state OR if you prefer to use a paper form:

    • If you are registering in Buncombe County (the county in which Asheville resides), you can drop off your form at the Election Services Office: 59 Woodfin Place, Asheville, NC 28801
    • You can also drop your voter registration form off to Dr. Ashley Moraguez in the Political Science Department, and she will gladly submit your form for you. Her office is Zageir Hall 208A; he mailbox is in Zageir 208.
